What You See Research is een kans voor makers om zich twee weken helemaal onder te dompelen in hun artistieke onderzoek. Uit een open call zijn twee bijzondere makers gekozen. Tijdens What You See openen zij één keer de deuren van hun studio’s om jou een kijkje te geven in hun creatieve proces.
Tomy Huijbregts probeert in zijn research om dieper in contact te komen met zijn Indisch zijn – een kant van zijn identiteit die hij, in tegenstelling tot zijn queerness, nog niet volledig kan toelaten. Een diep persoonlijke verkenning van hoe zowel Indische als queer assimilatie zich in hem hebben vastgezet.

Greici Baquer, bekend als The Real Miss Colombia, wil met haar onderzoeksproject The Women Who Survived ColombiaColombiaanse vrouwen eren als symbolen van verzet. Met hun verhalen creëert ze een nieuwe ruimte van vrijheid, vreugde en heling, die het publiek en haar voorouders samenbrengt.

Two artists take you inside their artistic research
Personal artistic research

What You See Research gives artists the opportunity to immerse themselves completely in their artistic research for two weeks. Two exceptional artists have been selected through an open call. During What You See, they open the doors to their studios for one time only, inviting you to take a closer look at their creative processes.

Greici Baquero, known as The Real Miss Colombia, aims to honour Colombian women as symbols of resistance through her research project The Women Who Survived Colombia. Through their stories, she creates a new space for freedom, joy and healing, bringing together the audience and her ancestors.

In his research, Tomy Huijbregts seeks to connect more deeply with his Indo identity—a part of himself that, unlike his queerness, he has not yet been able to fully embrace. A deeply personal exploration of how both Indo and queer assimilation have become embedded within him.

The research of Tomy includes audience participation. Participation is voluntarily and only upon your own initiative. The programme of The Real Miss Colombia may include themes related to war, and sensual or provocative content.

Accessibility
Tomy’s research is in Dutch, an English translation is available on paper. The programme of The Real Miss Colombia may include loud sounds, lighting effects and darkness.
